One of the many observations I've made over the course of the Spring 15 shows is the abundance of hats on the runways. I've never seen so many lovely, kooky and creative things to wear on one's head as this season. One of my favorites, and surely one of the most vibrant examples is Missoni's beautiful print silk scarves twisted and draped into turbans thanks to the brilliant Paul Hanlon and his hair team. Turbans evoke either an Auntie Mame moment or the mad print mash of African women with swaths of Kente cloth artfully tied around their heads. Missoni's turbans reflect neither, they feel wholly new. Bold, abstract patterns in juicy, tropical hues wrap and wrap, creating height and a definitive regal air. What a beautiful finish to an airy, gossamer-weight collection that maintained the ease of a t-shirt throughout, enhanced only with gorgeous silk scarves and a fire-red lip.
